Long Roots
Big Dreams
FNPS has been wild about native plants since before it was trendy.
Who we are
FNPS is the only organization in Florida specifically dedicated to preserving, conserving, and restoring native plants and their communities native to our state.
We’ve been in the field for nearly five decades
Since 1980, the Florida Native Plant Society has been rooted in a simple but powerful mission: to preserve, conserve, and restore the native plants and natural communities of Florida.
We’re a statewide nonprofit powered by people — with over 30 local chapters leading the way in their own backyards. From pine rocklands to salt marshes, our members are restoring habitats, guiding native landscaping, advocating for smart policy, and connecting neighbors through a shared love of Florida’s incredible biodiversity.
Our strength comes from the ground up: each chapter is a hub for hands-on learning, community action, and ecological care. Together, we’re cultivating a more resilient, more native Florida — one garden, one field trip, one wild idea at a time.
Whether you're a seasoned botanist or just learning the difference between a saw palmetto and a cabbage palm, there's a place for you in the FNPS family.
Our Vision
We envision a future where people have greater knowledge of — and appreciation for — Florida's natural environment and where diverse native plants, communities, and ecosystems thrive.
