JOIN AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY OF CONSERVATIONISTS

AND HELP SAVE OUR NATIVE PLANTS AND THEIR HABITATS

Florida Runs on Native Plants. So Do We.

Native plants feed Florida's wildlife, filter our water, stabilize our soils, and support the industries that drive our economy. For 46 years, the Florida Native Plant Society has been on the front lines protecting them. Partner with us and show Florida that your business is invested in what matters most.

Conservation That Makes a Difference.

46 years of showing up for Florida's native plants.

The Florida Native Plant Society was born from a simple but powerful belief: Florida's native plants deserve champions. For over four decades, our members — scientists, educators, conservationists, and everyday Floridians — have been those champions.

1980:   Florida Native Plant Society founded by a passionate group of scientists, citizens, and conservationists united by one mission - protecting Florida's native plants and their habitats

1981:   First conference held at Rollins College - over 200 attendees, five chapters already formed across Florida. First issue of The Palmetto published, establishing FNPS as a trusted voice for native plant science and conservation

Over four decades of chapters, conferences, legislation, and boots on the ground...

2024:  Led the statewide fight to protect Florida's state parks from incompatible development, including proposals to build golf courses and pickleball courts on our state parks

2025:  Pushed through legislation preventing incompatible development on public lands

Now:  Actively advocating to secure Florida Forever funding to protect Florida's remaining natural lands

Always:  Working to protect critically endangered Florida native plants including Dicerandra modesta, Dicerandra cornutissima, Warea amplexifolia, and Torreya taxifolia
