The FNPS Legacy Society

Honoring those who chose to protect Florida's wild places beyond their own lifetime

Serenoa repens - the saw palmetto that stands at the center of our emblem - is among the oldest living organisms in North America, with individual plants estimated to persist for thousands of years. It is a fitting symbol for this page. Membership in the FNPS Legacy Society is reserved for those who have made an extraordinary commitment: naming the Florida Native Plant Society in their will, trust, or as a beneficiary, and ensuring their generosity will shape this state's wild places for generations they will never meet.

Each frond displayed here bears the name of a Legacy Society member. It is a permanent mark of distinction, granted to those whose foresight and generosity place them among a select few. It is one of the highest honors FNPS can bestow, and it is earned not through a single gift, but through a lifetime's decision to protect what matters most.

An honor, not merely a gift

Legacy Society membership is offered in recognition of a truly exceptional act of stewardship. It asks nothing of a member's finances today, yet it guarantees something few other gifts can: that their name, their values, and their commitment to Florida's native landscapes will endure long after their lifetime. Members join this circle by notifying FNPS after including the Society in their estate plans whether arranged through FreeWill, our complimentary estate-planning partner, or through their own attorney or financial advisor. At a member's discretion, recognition may be displayed publicly or held in confidence; either way, their place among this distinguished group is assured.

Requesting Recognition

If you have already named FNPS as a beneficiary of your estate, we invite you to notify us so that your membership may be properly recorded and honored. If you are considering this distinction, we welcome the opportunity to discuss what it means to join the Legacy Society.
