Bidens Alba
FNPS 2025 Winter BioBlitz and Photo Contest
Get Ready! Join the Fun!
WHAT IS A BIOBLITZ?
An effort to gather information on species in an area in a short amount of time- Including the public in the scientific process and using their assistance in gathering data to broaden knowledge on a topic.
WHY THIS FNPS BIOBLITZ FOR WINTER 2025?
As part of the effort to learn more about the species
Bidens alba
and it’s interactions with Florida ecosystems, FNPS is promoting a BioBlitz day of capturing pictures of visiting species making use of it. Be it as a food source, or for some other purpose in their life cycle, we hope to shed light on what role this plant is playing among pollinators and other animals. This is a topic where little research has been done, and your participation could make a big difference.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Using this guide for identifying this common plant, locate some in your area. It can be found in many areas disturbed by human use. It is often in yards, by fence lines, or growing on the edge of the sidewalk. Once you’ve identified some Bidens alba, pop up a seat and wait for 15 minutes. Take as many pictures of species that visit, fly around, or land on your plant as you can. Once you have done that, pictures can be uploaded to this project on iNaturalist.
