Tarflower

Winter Park

Description

The Tarflower Chapter envisions a future where people have a deeper understanding and appreciation of Florida’s natural environment — and where diverse native plants, communities, and ecosystems thrive.

We bring this vision to life through monthly meetings and field trips that explore and celebrate Florida’s unique ecosystems and plant life. Our members actively foster stewardship and sustainability through hands-on projects, including restoring native sandhill habitat at Mead Botanical Garden, supporting restoration efforts at Oakland Nature Preserve, and assisting with plant rescues across the region.

Our community is warm and welcoming to all who share an interest in native plants. We’re always excited to share our knowledge, experiences, and adventures with new plant enthusiasts!

Advisory

As a past president of both Tarflower Chapter and of FNPS, Jackie Rolly has shown leadership, knowledge, and passion.  Also, she is the founder and continual support of BackYard Biodiversity Day (BBD), an event held in October during Florida Native Plant Month, showcasing our native plants with a large plant sale, environmental exhibitors, hikes, lectures, and more!

Jim Irwin, Mike Duffy, Tammy Lafferty also offer advisory input on programatic development.
