Living Landscapes

FNPS' Native Habitat Certification

The Living Landscapes Certification Program recognizes Floridians who use their land to protect the state’s wildlife and natural resources, whether that land is a balcony container garden or a city park. Start with our resources on sustainable landscaping in Florida. They show you how to choose native plants, build habitat, conserve water, and grow a space of any size that supports pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.

When you’re ready, click Get Certified and fill out a short webform about your landscape and how you care for it. Your answers place you in the tier that fits your space today. We will then email you a link to buy your certification sign and tier decal.

Your landscape will keep growing, and your certification grows with it. As your practices mature, you can recertify at a higher tier and buy only the new decal for the sign you already have. You keep one sign that shows your progress, and you don’t end up with a stack of old ones.

Why does it matter if [a species] goes extint?

Because it's the canary in the coal mine. We need a diversity of plants, animals and microbes in the world. The more diversity you have, the better all of the systems are.
